These guys are the best of buds. So, their mothers thought it would be a great idea to do a photoshoot together. At first, I admit I was a little worried that they would be able to sit still long enough for me to snap a photo or that I would be fast enough to handle all three I should say. ;-) Never-the-less, we did it! My friend Jackie makes the most incredible jewelry. I must admit that shooting things that don't move makes me a little nervous. It's not my area of expertise. So, since she is also an interior designer, I asked her to hang around and help me lay these pieces out in such a way that would catch the eye. Well, needless to say, her work is already eye-catching...so placing the pieces was pretty easy after all.

Day Job

Office Manager by day, photographer by night. Yep, that's me. This is the one occasion where my jobs combined which was pretty cool. You see, my office, Parkway Primary Care, is revamping their website. Because of that, new pictures were definitely needed! I admit, it was a little akward being in front of the camera for a change, but my camera still works. So, I guess it's alright. ;-)

On June 13th, Joe and Lisa said I do. They had the sweetest ceremony at Chapel Dulcinea with their closest family and friends looking on. When I showed up, Lisa told me to look in this shoebox marked "Converse". I flipped open the lid and gasped with excitement! These sparkly, silver, lace-up shoes were her wedding shoes!!! I said, "I love them!!!" The whole family wore them, but only hers were silver. :-) She also went outside the box with her wedding dress. She said that Joe loves the color purple on her...so that's why she chose a purple dress. It was gorgeous on her as were the shoes. You can see just how much they love each other and there is no doubt in my mind that this couple will live happily ever after.

Big Day

Laura (my good friend) asked me to do something I've never done before. She asked me to photograph the morning of her son's first day at Kindergarten. My first thought was "Oh no!!! That means I'm going to have to get up early!!!!" After the shock wore off ;-) I thought it might be pretty cool to do. So, I woke up this morning at 5:45 am, headed to her house and photographed him getting ready for his big day. There were tears from both parties and lots of hugs and kisses...especially when it came time to let go. But, she did let go and she spent the day shopping her blues away. :-) I'm so glad she asked me to do this for her. It sparked the mommy bug in me. Uh oh! ;-)

Hey everyone! Meet little Kayla, Mia and Mackenzie. Kayla and Mia (the youngest girls) are sisters and Mackenzie is their cousin. I've photographed all of them for much of their lives. And with each passing year they get more beautiful than the year before. I don't know how their parents are gonna keep them under wraps, but I do know that they own guns! No, no, just joshin'...or am I?... ;-)

Brian & Linda in the NYC!!!

We had a wonderful oportunity to go to NYC this summer. It was the first time in NY for Brian & I and what a culture shock ! We started off in Long Island for a wonderful wedding and then we ventured by train to Manhattan after a few days. We pulled into Penn Station and as soon as we walked up the steps and out onto the streets of NYC our jaws dropped wide open. We couldn't believe it! The sounds, the sights were all a bit overwhelming at first. There is so much to take in, but once we caught our breath we were like two kids in a candy store. On a mission to see everything we could see in three days we started our adventure. While we saw a lot (Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Titanic exibit, Bodies exibit, Madame Tussauds, Rockefeller Plaza, Top of the Rock, NBC Studios Tour, St. Patrick's Cathedral, 5th Avenue, Ground Zero, Pier 17), we didn't get to see everything we wanted to. I must admit that I was a bit nervous to go to Manhattan. I had always heard that New Yorkers could be a bit rude, but what a surprise it was to discover just the opposite. Everyone was so helpful and wonderful. Anyone that knows my husband knows how much he hates being in any big city, but he had a blast! We both can't wait to go back and see more! I've put some of my favorite photos up. I hope you enjoy them!

Cool Little Moth

I was standing outside my house the other night and I nearly bumped into this thing. I couldn't believe how big it was! I also couldn't get over the unusual markings on it's wings. It almost looks like 2 other bugs are sitting on them. It was the weirdest & most beautiful moth I'd ever seen. I stared at it for the longest time trying to figure it out and then I finally went to grab the camera. Now, I have him to look at forever. :-)

My husband & I are dog lovers and these are our "babies"...Jax & Mollie. That's what we call them because we have no actual children yet. So they are our children. We spoil them rotten and it's so sad to say, but they pretty much run our house. We just can't help it. Look at those faces! Jax is our little old man. He is so smart and so inquisitive. He is so much like a human that it's not even funny. I know exactly what he's thinking most of the time. Mollie is our little terror. She is a Heeler through and through. She tries to round Jax up by nipping at his hind legs and gets on his nerves quite often. She's got that annoying little sister quality down to a tee. She is also the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. She loves attention and will just sit there and let you love on her all day and night. I hope you like these two pics. I'll get more up before too long.

Over the weekend, I had a session with this sweet baby and his mom & dad. He is the first baby for Haley and Brian and they are so proud. Who wouldn't be with this little cutie? Look at that adorable little mouth! Less than 2 weeks old and just as precious as can be. Here are some of our photos from that day. You know, it never fails to amaze me how small we are when we start out. Do you ever feel that way?

I thought I would share a personal story of something that happened to me and my husband this Christmas morning. While it was a devastating event, it made me realize just how small we really are in relation to mother nature. Ok, let me explain... Brian and I had spent Christmas Eve with his family. They live in Pflugerville and so do we, so we don't have to travel very far. On this particular night, we left their house just before 1am to head back home (we never stay quite that late which makes this story a little more ironic). We were about 3 minutes from home and Brian asked me if I saw smoke out my window. I looked and said, "YES!" It was coming from just a few blocks away. We followed it to a house that looked like a the front porch had just caught on fire. Immediately, we wondered if anyone was inside so Brian began honking his horn hoping to catch the attention of anyone inside...no answer. He called the closest fire station (oh, I didn't mention that my husband is a Fireman for the Pflugerville Fire Dept.), parked the truck on the other side of the road and ran up to a window on the far side of the house. He banged on it, knocked out a small portion and yelled to see if anyone was inside. No answer. By this time, the entire front of the house was in flames and the neighbors across the street came out to see what was happening. They told us that the people who lived in the house weren't home...thank God. The fire truck arrived and this is what happened next.

For some reason, God called us there that night. We were meant to see the smoke, we were meant to call for help and these images were meant to be captured. It was a blessing that no animal or person was inside and believe it or not, the house was not a total loss.

Her mommy and daddy brought her to Pfluger Park or I think it goes by another name now. Anyway, This was her 2nd photo shoot...3rd if you count the one where she was in mommies tummy. She's a fast one, but you can usually catch up to her when she takes a little tumble like this one. Little Mia & Jack

I'm sorry...I realize it's been a while since my last entry. I promise to try and get better with my blogging. It's all very new, so it may take me a little while to get the hang of it. For this entry I wanted to tell a story of my recent photo sessions with Little Mia & Jack.

Their photos were taken during separate shoots on the same day. And all I have to say is that they're both gonna be heart breakers. Just look at these faces! I started out the day at the Berry household. Mia was the primary reason for our session, but we were also able to take several family photos in addition to hers. She is a very happy child and constantly on the move (unless she has a doll or barrette in her hands). Just over a year old and mobile! She is quite an independant little girl with a smile to melt your heart.

After their session ended, I headed back home and set up the studio for the Gandy family. What a loving and caring family they are. They have an adorable little boy named Jack who has the prettiest eyes you've ever seen. He is also a mover and a shaker, but can't walk yet so it was a little easier to keep him in the area. He liked to play peek-a-boo behind that hand of his, but was mostly all smiles for the camera. What a cutie!

Many people who are interested in having their children photographed often ask what they should bring to a shoot. I would say that it is essential to have toys (or anything to keep them content if they get a little fussy), a couple different wardrobe options and bottles, pacifiers or a blanky if they are younger. Our goal is to make your child feel comfortable and at home during his/her session.

If they do get a little fussy, we can always take a break to help them get back on track. Sometimes all that attention just gets to be too much and they need a breather. Isn't that the case for us all?

What a mess!

I'd like to introduce everyone to the newest addition to our family, Mollie. She is a 3 1/2 month old Red Heeler and she is VERY mischievous. Yesterday was my husband's birthday and we had a dinner planned with the family. We let Mollie and her brother Jax outside to play while we got things set up inside. Needless to say, this is how she looked when we brought her back inside. OMG!! What a mess! Water + hole in the ground = MUD...bad equation for an inside dog. We couldn't help but to gasp and then laugh at the situation. I ran to grab my camera while Brian held Mollie in place and we captured this moment forever. Yes, she gets into everything that she shouldn't, she is not the best listener and she eats Jax's food all the time, but despite these things...we couldn't live without her. She's a keeper!

Aftermath Rocks!

I have to tell you about one of the best photographic experiences I've ever had. Earlier this summer, I was approached by one of my girlfriends to take pictures of her son's band, Aftermath. I had never done a shoot for a rock band before so of course, I gladly accepted the challenge.

We started the shoot by taking pictures of them rockin' out at the Pecan Street Festival and then we toured Downtown Austin to find other great photo opportunities. This is my favorite photograph from that day. Don't they look great? So sure of themselves and so confident. Hanging out with them made me feel like I was in high school again. Overall, it was a great day.

This is the most talented group of young performers I've ever seen! Not only are they talented, they are smart, beautiful/handsome and they have a great sense of style. They were born to perform! So, if you ever have the opportunity to go and see them....please do. You will thoroughly enjoy it! ROCK ON AFTERMATH...ROCK ON!!!

Hello! I've always wanted to start a blog page, but to be quite honest, I've been a little scared. I wondered if I would be able to keep up with it because of my busy schedule and then I wondered if I would have enough interesting things to say. I'd just like to start by telling a little bit about myself. My name is Linda Lucas and I am a Photographer. I was born and raised in the Austin area and I absolutely love being creative. To become a photographer has a dream of mine since I was in high school. While I do have a full time day job, photography is what makes me most happy.

Over the Memorial Day holiday I photographed a very special person. She is my very good friend's little girl, Analisa. For as long as I can remember she has been a part of our family and she is the sweetest girl I know. I can't believe she's already 10 years old! We were at her birthday party this weekend and I almost started to cry thinking of how fast time is flying by. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to pause it once in a while? You know, just so that we can take in those extra special times in life.
